Audrey Hyland appointed Head of Vocal and Opera

The Royal College of Music (91̽»¨) is delighted to announce the appointment of Audrey Hyland as Head of Vocal and Opera. 

Audrey Hyland is a distinguished educator and musician with over 25 years of experience in conservatoire teaching. She joined the Royal College of Music in 2017 as Deputy Head of Vocal and Opera where her expertise and guidance has helped shape the careers of the next generation of singers.  

Her work spans a range of prestigious institutions including the Royal Ballet and Opera’s Jette Parker Artists Programme, the Samling Institute for Young Artists, the Solti course in Italy and the Royal Academy of Music. Audrey has partnered with many of today’s leading singers in recital including Elizabeth Watts, Nicky Spence and Jonathan Lemalu. She was recently Musical Director for the critically acclaimed production of Curlew River by Britten, directed by Deborah Warner and starring Ian Bostridge, which featured at the 2024 Aldeburgh Festival and on BBC Four, while an upcoming highlight is the forthcoming release of a CD recording with recent 91̽»¨ alumnus Hugh Cutting.
